About the SchoolKent College Pembury
Kent College Pembury is one of the leading independent senior schools for girls in Kent. Its ethos is founded on nurturing confidence and providing an exciting range of opportunities to inspire and achieve success. Kent College pupils achieve excellent examination results with high levels of Value Added. This means they achieve significantly better GCSE and A-level results than predicted from their entry level scores, enabling them to proceed to universities of their choice to fulfil their cherished ambitions. Kent College welcomes international students and provides for the educational and cultural needs of girls from all over the world. For the benefit of all students, the school has a policy to maintain a good balance of British and international students in classes and boarding houses. Overseas students at Kent College are well motivated and keen to learn. They come from professional families worldwide and go on to study at top universities in the UK and abroad after obtaining excellent GCSE and A-level results at Kent College.

Admissions
Main intakes of girls are at 11+ (Year 7), 13+ (Year 9) and 16+ (Lower 6th Form). College also accepts application from students for entry into other year group subject to places being available. An offer of a place is based on the results of the tests, an interview and a reference from the students’ current school.

Boarding
Upon arrival all boarders are given a 'Boarders Handbook' and are assigned a 'shadow' to look after them. An induction programme in the first week helps new boarders quickly settle into boarding and school life at Kent College.

English as Second languageKent College Pembury
Learning Development Department at Kent College co-ordinates the programme of extra English lessons for our international students. An experienced teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL) provides tuition on a one-to-one basis or in small groups of two or three students, depending on ability. Upon joining the school, the English ability of each overseas student is assessed so that an individual programme of EAL lessons is devised, and this is monitored regularly so that lessons can be increased or reduced accordingly. Parents are advised of the costs once their daughter has been assessed. Private lessons in spoken English are also available to girls who wish to improve their pronunciation.
