The College is a close-knit community and many friendships forged at Seaford are made for life. A highly successful peer mentoring scheme, combined with outstanding pastoral care, means there is always someone to turn to in times of trouble.
Admissions
Boys and girls may be admitted to boarding at any age from 10 to 18 years. An academic assessment and report from their current school will normally be required.
Boarding
Around 40% of pupils at Seaford College elect to board, in order to take full advantage of the social, sporting and extra-curricular activities on offer. The College offers not only full boarding, but also weekly and flexible boarding in order to meet the needs of pupils and their parents.
Boys begin boarding in Johnson Hall, where they sleep in partitioned dormitories, offering an element of privacy and room for their personal possessions. They move on to single or twin study bedrooms as they progress through school and, in the Sixth Form, enjoy the enviable facilities in Heden House, which has its own Common Room and Dining Room. All boarding houses have their own recreation area, where boarders can read, relax and chat with their friends. The building of a new boys’ boarding house is due to begin in May 2010 and will be situated in the 'walled garden', next to the Mansion House.
The magnificent Mansion House – at the heart of the College campus – is home to the girls who board at Seaford. The first and second floor levels offer modern girls’ dormitories and study rooms, which have inspirational views over the rolling countryside that surrounds Seaford College. Each house has dedicated house parents and the College has a resident Matron.
English as an Additional Language
Seaford College offers EFL (English as a Foreign Language); this will be included in the fees when students have their English lessons whilst extra EFL will be charged accordingly, and in arrears. Seaford will only offer 1-2 places, ideally one girl one boy for entry.
Creative
Seaford’s strength for many years has lain in the field of creative arts. Each child has a creative talent and they are encouraged to participate in song and dance, music in all its forms, and drama throughout their time in school. Past pupils have gained music scholarships to some of the nation’s leading music schools as well as Oxford and Cambridge, while others have gone on to study art, textiles and design at all of the UK’s major art colleges.
Active and Adventure
Seaford believes that sport and outdoor pursuits are not only good for the body – but good for the soul! Team games instil students with a sense of camaraderie, a theme which extends into pursuits organised by the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
