My Guardians is located near Sevenoaks, a market town situated in the countryside of West Kent, about 21.5 miles south-east of the centre of London.
The town is home to Knole, an English country house surrounded by a 1,000-acre deer park and to The Vine cricket ground - the oldest in England. There is a wide variety of historic properties within a short distance from the centre and many beautiful gardens to visit.
There are a number of independent educational establishments in the town, including Sevenoaks School, a coeducational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11‑18. Founded in 1432, Sevenoaks provides academic excellence with a strong pastoral and co-curricular emphasis and a global dimension inspired by the International Baccalaureate. Half an hour from Central London and from Gatwick International Airport, it is situated on an attractive 100-acre campus adjoining Knole Park. The Sunday Times recently ranked Sevenoaks as the Independent Secondary School of the Year, with superb GCSE and IB results, and was described as ‘outstanding’ in the Ofsted Boarding inspection 2009.
Sevenoaks was one of the first schools in the world (since June 1978) to offer the IB and now we have over 30 years of experience teaching it.
The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.

All parents based overseas need a UK guardian for their child. The guardian acts ‘in loco parentis’ in emergencies and will be responsible for care and accommodation during the holidays and exeat weekends whilst your child is in the UK. Due to the overwhelming success of IELTS courses at Newbury this summer, My Guardians in partnership with OISE is now delighted to offer our clients the same course in Folkestone. Conveniently located on the beautiful South East coast of England, only a short journey away from London, Folkestone is an ideal location for an intensive IELTS Preparation Programme in the summer of 2010.
Ages: 14 – 17 year olds. Programme: 30 hours tuition per week. This programme focuses on the language skills required for success in the IELTS exam. Students study exam techniques and strategies and receive regular individualised feedback on progress and target specific areas for improvement. The timetable includes real-time practice and coaching in examination skills.
A typical day: 09:00 – 10:00 reading/weekly review | 10:10-11:10 writing/mock reading exam | 11:20-12:20 grammar/mock writing exam| 13:00-14:00 listening/mock listening exam | 14:15- 15:15 vocabulary | 15:45-16:45 short story reading & writing.
Students will spend the evening with their family. Students will be given approx. 1.5 hours homework per night.
Included in the course price: loan of all teaching materials, workbook and course certificate, homestay accommodation: full board, leisure activities, full day excursions on Saturdays, standard transfers on arrival & departure.
Location: Folkestone is a traditional seaside resort located in Kent on the south east coast of England near Dover. As we draw closer to the summer months, places are filling up fast for many English language courses. Cambridge Examinations (PET and FCE) preparation courses are very popular and early bookings are recommended.
This programme focuses on the language skills required for success in English Cambridge exams: PET (Preliminary English Test) and FCE (First Certificate in English) and optimises students’ level of success in the exam.
The exams cover all four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking, and are for students who can use everyday written and spoken English at an intermediate level (PET) and at an upper intermediate level (FCE).
Both the PET and the FCE certificates are valid for life and are truly international, recognised around the world for business and study purposes and by thousands of universities and government departments.

Одногодичный курс GCSE специально разработан английской школой для иностранных студенток. Девочки обучаются пяти или шести предметам GCSE наряду с английским языком (по английскому сдают экзамен First Certificate или IGCSE English). Наибольшее количество учениц из разных стран, принятых на данный курс – 25. Курс проходит наряду с GCSE курсом для девочек из Великобритании.
Курс предоставляет ученицам различных стран отличную возможность поступить на специальный курс GCSE, который обеспечит их необходимыми навыками английского языка, а также академическими квалификациями и заботой во время проживания в школе на полном пансионе.
Девочки, закончившие одногодичный курс GCSE, могут подать документы на дальнейшее обучение в Royal School по программе A level.
В предыдущие годы этот курс пользовался большим спросом и желающим поступить на одногодичную программу GCSE с сентября 2010 рекомендуется подавать документы как можно раньше. Места распределяются по мере поступления документов.

The one year GCSE course is specially designed for overseas pupils. Girls will study for 5 or 6 GCSEs in addition to an English language qualification (either First Certificate or IGCSE English). A maximum of 25 girls will be admitted onto the course which runs alongside our GCSE course for UK pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity for overseas girls to enrol on a dedicated GCSE course which will cater for their English language skills in addition to their academic qualifications and pastoral needs.
Girls completing the one-year GCSE course will then be eligible to apply for a place in the School’s Sixth Form.
This course has proved very popular in previous years so it is essential that girls wishing to apply for a place on the one-year GCSE course for entry in September 2010 submit their applications as soon as possible. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
